The United States ($3.90) was not assured a start in the 2015 Naturalism Stakes until Banca Mo was scratched early this week, but now figures as outright favourite in betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au ahead of Sertorius ($5.50) and Magnapal ($6).

Will The United States justify favouritism and win the 2015 Naturalism Stakes or will one of his many talented rivals find the line in the clear?

1st

Sertorius ($5.50)

Sertorius clearly needed the run and more distance when tenth in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) first-up on August 29th, but will relish the step-up to 2000m and offers great value for money at Naturalism Stakes odds of $5.50 for success. Having performed notably at the highest level on several occasions previously, the Galileo gelding returned this year for a close second in the Group 2 Blamey Stakes (1600m) before returning to the winner’s circle in the Group 3 Easter Cup (2000m).

2nd

The United States ($3.90)

Macedon Lodge runner The United States has returned to racing in slick form this time but will need plenty of luck in transit after drawing the awkward barrier 12 for the Naturalism Stakes. Beginning his racing career under the guidance of leading Irish trainer Aidan O’Brien before being purchased and transferred to Robert Hickmott prior to the 2014 calendar, The United States charged home to beat a classy field to the line in the Sweeney Estate Agents Handicap (1500m) first-up before running second in the Craig Opie Cup (1600m) on September 5th.

3rd

Almoonqith ($15)

Almoonqith will also need plenty of luck from a wide draw but has been charged with carrying only 55.5kgs in the Naturalism Stakes and will be partnered by in-form hoop Michael Walker. A standout in the Middle East in 2014 and earlier this year, the Dynaformer entire debuted in Australia for fifth in the Sweeney Estate Agents Handicap before a luckless run for tenth in a Moonee Valley minor over 2040m on September 5th.
